St. Augustine's CE Primary School: Healthy Packed Lunch Guidelines

Our Provider

Our school meals are provided by a company called Harrisons.

For those children who opt for a packed lunch, we encourage a healthy and balanced lunchbox. These are monitored by the Midday Meals Supervisors.

Breakfast Club Information

We provide breakfast for all pupils, including the following foods:

  • Toast with butter

Additonal Information:

  • Pupils in the EYFS and KS1 are provided with a piece of fruit each day.
  • Water is readily provided and each child is encouraged to drink water during the day.
  • Pupils are encouraged to eat healthily wherever possible.
  • Sweets, chocolate, crisps and other sugary snacks (other than fruit or vegetables) are not permitted on school premises – including the playground – at any time. If parents bring such foods at the end of the day, staff should politely request that they wait until they are off the school premises before giving them to their children.
  • If your child has any dietary requirements please make sure these are made clear to the school. If necessary, a Health Care Plan will be carried out with you for your child.
  • Please see our Food Policy in the Policies Section of the website.

Free School Meals

Children in all year groups from Nursery to Year 6 are curently entitled to free school meals regardless of any qualifying benefit. However, parents and carers are encouraged to complete an application form for Free School Meals as schools receive £1,455 per completed application form. This money is solely used to support pupils in the school. Even if you do not want your child to receive a free meal, it would be great for our school not to miss out on this important extra funding that will benefit your child.
