The unit 'Animal Magic' is all about living creatures and their habitats. Children will explore different habitats and how they provide a living space for a range of animals. They will also think about what animals need to live and about food chains. Children will go to Paddington Rec for the In Day, in search for animal life and will made sketches of any clues of animal life.
In science, they will learn about living things and their habitats, exploring and comparing the differences between things that are living, dead, and things that have never been alive. They will be able to identify and name a variety of plants and animals in their habitats, including micro-habitats. In Geography, they will use maps to locate countries and continents which contain natural habitats of the polar bear and other animals. They will also study the physical geographical features of the Arctic and a compare with our local area. The RE will focus on the question, ‘What’s the Story of Our School Name?’
