REMINDER: Friday is Virtual Superhero Day!!!

REMINDER: Friday is Virtual Superhero Day!!! 1

On Friday, 1st May, we are going to hold a Virtual Superhero Day.

We are asking all the children to dress up in their favourite superhero costume - real life superheroes are encouraged - and take a photo of themselves.

You can then send this photo or short video to your teacher’s email address.

We will put lots of special superhero ideas and activities on class pages on Thursday evening so that you can fill your Friday with superhero learning and fun.

If your child attends school at the moment, then we would love to see them come to school in their superhero outfit and we will have lots of fun activities on that day too.

If your child doesn’t want to dress up or you don’t have a costume, simply ask your child to draw a picture of their favourite superhero with their head drawn, or stuck on, where the characters head should be!

We can’t wait to see all our Stay At Home Superheroes! We will create our very own St. Augustine’s Primary School Superhero Gallery the following week.

We hope that our Virtual Superhero Day reinforces the need for us all to follow campaign of Stay Home, Protect the NHS, Save Lives so that our real-life superheroes – all those nurses, doctors, and other NHS workers – can do their jobs and do them safely.

We hope you are all joining in with the 'Clap For Our Carers Campaign' each Thursday at 8pm. If you haven’t yet, please take the time next Thursday to stand by your open window, on your balcony or on your door step and clap, cheer or even bang a saucepan with a wooden spoon for all our NHS superheroes.

Remember you and your child can be a superhero too by staying at home and staying safe. Below is a really good video to share with your child to reiterate all of this so please share this 'Stay at Home Superhero' story.

Dear Children and Parents: Next Friday is Virtual Superhero Day. Please read the following document and start making your own superhero costume!

Dear Year 5 Parents and Carers,

As you are now aware, our school is closed due to the situation with COVID-19 that our country is currently facing.  However, it is of the utmost importance that our children continue with their education from home.

Therefore, I will be uploading Mathematics, Guided Reading, and Writing Activities every day onto our Y5 Class Page.  If you need to contact me about any queries with the task, you can so on my e-mail: pfansler@stap.org.uk

I have explained to the children that we are not on an extended holiday, and it is very important for them to keep a normal, daily routine both for their physical and emotional well-being.  To assist you with helping your child keep a daily routine, here is a sample daily schedule which you may wish to follow.

Before 9:00 - Breakfast time, tidy up your room

9:00 – 10:00 – Exercise Time

10:00 – 11:00  – Academic Time (Reading, Maths, Writing, other subjects)

11:00 – 12:00 - Creative Time (Lego, drawing, colouring, craft activities, singing, music, cooking/baking together)

12:00 – 1:00 – Lunch / Relaxation Time

1:00 – 1:30 – Exercise Time

1:30 – 2:30 – Academic Time (Reading, Maths, Writing, other subjects)

2:30 – 3:00 – Quiet Time (Relax with a book, watch a TV programme, board game)

3:00 – 4:00 – Fresh Air (Outdoor play or exercise indoors)

4:00 – 5:00 – Electronics Time (Supervised electronics, supervised educational games/apps)

5:00 – 6:00 – Tea Time (Have tea and then relax and prepare for bed/story time)

I will be available from 8.30-4.30 pm.  If you e-mail after these hours, I will seek to reply to your e-mail the following day.  Where appropriate, answers to questions in Maths will be uploaded every Friday and other subjects where possible so children can mark their work.  Please look at the class page regularly for updates on tasks as these will be updated daily, Monday through Friday.  Children will be expected to complete the tasks; however, I understand that access may be limited.  If these issues arise, please just e-mail me.  I want to reassure you that I am at the end of an e-mail to offer support and advice to both children and parents.

Finally, I would like to say a huge thank you in advance for the support you are going to give during these challenging times.

With best wishes to all of you during this time,

Mr. Fansler – Year 5 Teacher.
