Dear Parents and Carers,
I know that the children in Year 6 are sad at the prospect of not being together as a class at the moment. I spoke to the children who were in school last week to reassure them and have told them that, as soon as we are able, we will resume normal activities.
If this is not possible before the end of the summer term, I want you to know that we promise that we will get them all together, possibly on a Saturday in September, to celebrate as a class and to hold some of our Year 6 rites of passage that they may miss, such as the Year 6 party/disco.
We will, of course, be working on the Year 6 Leavers' Book and will post details of items that your child will be asked to contribute on the school website after the Easter holiday. This will include messages to their class and memories of their time at Sat Augustine’s. We will also be trying to find ways to collect photographs for the Leavers’ Book.
In the meantime, please ensure that the children keep up their reading and their learning in preparation for Year 7. This will make it easier for them to settle to their work when they begin secondary school. The class page on the school website has information about work that has been set for the class, as well as a number of links to useful educational websites. Please make sure that you and your child stay in touch with their class teacher through emails.
We look forward to seeing all of Year 6 together again as soon as possible.
