We launched Black History Month last week week with a special assembly about its origins and why it so very important to mark and celebrate together. For this reason, and in order to raise the profile of Black History Month within our school community, we had a very special whole school homework project go out and the results of it were shown in today's collective worship.
Each class was assigned a famous person to research. This research could take varying forms but at the end of it each child had something to present as homework and to the class.
E.g. posters, leaflets, biography, information booklet, etc.
We then shared our findings about each famous black person today. It was amazing to see what the children had learnt and in the different ways they presented to the school.
We are going to put up the work the children made in a huge celebration display in the hall so keep your eyes peeled for that!
